The singer goes into studio to record his first album on his own...

Rage Against The Machine singer ZACK DE LA ROCHA is to start work on his long awaited debut solo album.

de la Rocha looks set to go into the studio for all of next month to start work on the record, which, according to US magazine All Star, will be produced in part by El-P, a member of New York rap group Company Flow.

It’s not yet known who, if anyone, will join him for the recording sessions or what direction the material will take.

A UK spokesperson for Rage Against The Machine told nme.com: “It is a project that has been talked about for some time, although we don’t have any release date scheduled at present. There is a gap in the Rage Against The Machine itinerary at the moment, so it certainly wouldn’t surprise us if that is what he is doing. In fact I would say it is quite likely.”

Rage Against The Machine released their latest single, ‘Sleep Now In The Fire’ in the UK last Monday (April 3) through Epic.

The band are also confirmed to play this year’s Leeds/Reading Carling Weekend Festivals on August Bank Holiday weekend, August 25-28. Sources close to the band have hinted that this appearance will not be the band’s only UK show this year, although no other dates have yet been confirmed.
