Rap duo share images of Rage Against The Machine frontman from the studio

Rage Against The Machine frontman Zack de la Rocha and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker are working on the new Run The Jewels album.

Run the Jewels – the joint project of Rappers Killer Mike and El-P – are currently in the studio working on the follow up to their 2013 self-titled debut and have shared pictures from the studio. The latest image, which you can see below, shows the duo posing alongside de la Rocha and Barker with El-P’s longtime friend Yak Ballz.

El-P subsequently posted a separate image of De La Rocha with the caption: “Yes it really is happening.”

Speaking about ‘Run The Jewels 2’ earlier this year, Killer Mike told Rolling Stone that he and his partner were like “rabid dogs” making the record. “[It’s] much darker and much harder than I thought it would be. It’s pushed me into some darker crevices of my personality,” he said.

Mike added: “We’re knee-deep in creating. Throwing flows and patterns out, just picking beats we like. It’s all pretty instinctual. We’re just in there rapping like rabid dogs right now. Neither one of us are resting on our laurels.”

Zack de la Rocha has not released any music since working with One Day As A Lion, his band with The Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore, in 2008. Meanwhile, Barker’s Blink-182 plan to have released their new album in time for headlining Reading and Leeds Festivals this August.
