The tragic punk icon is laid to rest in his native Queens, New York...
The funeral of JOEY RAMONE, the late punk icon and singer with THE RAMONES, will be held today (April 17), at SCHWARTZ BROTHERS MEMORIAL CHAPEL in the FOREST HILLS area of his native QUEENS, NEW YORK.
Ramone died on Sunday (April 15) after losing his battle with lymphatic cancer. He was 49.
Meanwhile, a memorial concert is being planned for the singer in CBGB’s, the New York club that hosted shows by The Ramones, Talking Heads, Blondie and others and became synonymous with the nascent New York punk scene of the ’70s.
According to [url=]www.billboard.com, the club owner Hilly Kristal will begin working on details of the show later this month.
An additional celebratory remembrance show is being planned by the Ramones‘ former US label MCA. Details will be posted on [url=]www.officialramones.com.
