NEW ‘LIGHT

‘In the Morning’ soundtracks designer Hedi Slimane’s latest collection...

A previously unheard Razorlight song was showcased at a fashion show in PARIS last night (January 31).

Although singer Johnny Borrell is in London recovering from a “laryngitis type infection” which has led to the cancellation of this month’s massive UK tour, the Razorlight-composed piece ‘In the Morning’ soundtracked designer Hedi Slimane’s latest collection for the fashion house Dior.

The group were recruited to write the music for the show after Borrell and bandmate Carl Dalemo declined an offer from the designer to model in Dior’s event.

Clocking in at over 20 minutes of words and instrumentals, ‘In the Morning’ is expected to make it in a shorter version on the band’s second album.

An NME.COM insider at the show said: “The Razorlight soundtrack for the show was just one song that ran to a full 18 minutes – I’m not surprised Johnny had throat problems after that! It was a much bigger sound than the current Razorlight album, less ‘stripped-down’ and more reminiscent of early U2. We only heard it once but I think it’s the best thing they’ve ever recorded. If it’s a taste of the next album, then it’s going to be amazing.”
