Singer also clarifies rumours that he rode his motorbike through ex-girlfriend Kirsten Dunst's house
Doherty was recently jailed for six months after being found guilty of cocaine possession, while Barat has said the band have “no future” and alluded to a bust-up with Doherty following their reformation last year.
However, Borrell insisted that hearing about his old bandmates’ recent tribulations makes him feel sad.
He said: “Some people will tell me how bad things are for Pete and Carlos, like that’s going to make me feel good. It doesn’t make me feel good. It’s just depressing. It’s just sad.”
He continued: “We were really close friends a long time ago. The people I knew don’t exist any more.”
Borrel also admitted that rumours he used to ride his motorbike through ex-girlfriend Kirsten Dunst‘s living room are true.
The singer dated the Hollywood starlet in 2007, with rumours suggesting the pair split after Dunst grew tired of his indoor biking antics.
“It was a shared lounge and there were four people on the back. You could go quite fast. I could almost get into second gear,” he enthused.
Razorlight are due to motor back onto the live scene later this year when they hit festivals such as GuilFest and Get Loaded In the Park.
