Razorlight score first UK Number One single

Meanwhile The Killers top the album chart

Razorlight are celebrating their first Number One single, after ’America’ went to the top of UK singles chart tonight (October 8).

The band clinched the top spot despite competition from David Hasselhoff’s novelty single ’Jump In My Car’ which went in at Number Three.

Speaking to NME.COM, Razorlight drummer Andy Burrows admitted the band were happy to have finally topped the singles charts, after two of their previous singles, ’Somewhere Else’ and ’In The Morning’, had peaked at Number Two.

“We had our fingers crossed,” he explained. “Now we’re really excited. It was frustrating when we’ve got this close before but went in at Two, but the record buying public have decided.”

The top ten looks like this:

1. Razorlight – ‘America’

2. Scissor Sisters – ‘I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’

3. David Hasselhoff – ‘Jump In My Car’

4. P Diddy Ft Nicole Scherzinger – ‘Come To Me’

5. Bob Sinclar & Cutee B – ‘Rock This Party (Everybody Dance Now)’
