Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals tickets withdrawn

Thousands see their confirmations cancelled

Thousands of tickets for the Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds festivals have been cancelled.

Weekend tickets for the event sold out within hours of going on sale on Monday (March 19), but some fans were told their ticket confirmations had been withdrawn.

Organisers said purchases were dealt with so quickly that problems with over 3,000 credit cards only came to light after the confirmations had gone out.

About 1,100 people applying for Leeds tickets were affected, while around 2,000 people applying for Reading tickets were affected.

Festival organisers Mean Fiddler‘s MD Melvyn Benn said: “Cards were rejected either because their numbers were inputted incorrectly or they did not have sufficient funds.

“The sad thing it they got a confirmation and then relaxed and it wasn’t until the next morning they were told there was a problem, by which time the weekend tickets were gone.”

The BBC reports that those affected have coach package tickets reserved until 1930 GMT.

The festival will take place between August 24-26 and be headlined by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Razorlight and Smashing Pumpkins.
