Red Hot Chili Peppers close Lollapalooza

The crowd also attempt a stage invasion

Lollapalooza ended in spectacular fashion last night (August 6) after Red Hot Chili Peppers fans attempted a stage invasion during their headlining set.

Security had their hands full when dozens of fans surged over the barricades during the set, which was dominated by tracks from their new double album ‘Stadium Arcadium’, plus a series of familiar hits including ‘Californication’ and ‘Give It Away’.

Earlier, Canada’s Broken Social Scene played a rousing set while on the KIDZ stage festival organiser Perry Farrell was joined by Patti Smith during his set, which was made up of tracks by his former band Porno For Pyros.

Smith also paid her respects to the late Love singer Arthur Lee, and performed a new song written about the current conflict in the Middle East.

Other notable performances of the day came from Hot

Chip and Queens Of The Stone Age.
