REM FIT TO RESUME EURO TOUR

Bassist Mike Mills is passed fit after his illness forced the band to cancel two shows...

REM will resume their European tour in BIRMINGHAM tonight (February 23) after being forced to cancel two UK dates due to illness.

As previously reported on NME.COM, bassist Mike Mills was taken to hospital with severe flu-like symptoms on Monday (February 21), meaning the full band were unable to take to the stage for that night’s show at the Sheffield Hallam Arena.

Instead Michael Stipe and guitarist Peter Buck played a four-song acoustic set, while the full gig has been rescheduled for June 15.

The band then also cancelled their show at the Glasgow SECC last night (February 22), though no new date has been set.

Now Mills has been declared well enough, so the band will play at Birmingham NEC as planned.
