REM covered local heroes Interpol at their NEW YORK gigs at the weekend (October 3/4).

Frontman Michael Stipe tackled the track ‘NYC’ acoustically during the encores at the shows, which took place at Jones Beach Theater and Madison Square Garden respectively.

‘NYC’ is taken from [a][/a]’s 2002 debut LP ‘Turn On The Bright Lights’. Stipe has declared himself a fan of the band, and took the time to check them out at this year’s Glastonbury Festival from the side of the stage.
