REM have made their new single ‘IMITATION OF LIFE’ available via the Internet.

A 45-second clip of the single, which is not due for release in the UK until April 30, has been made available on the band’s official website [url=]www.remhq.com.

In addition, a longer version of the song has been made available via the unofficial REM website [url=]www.murmurs.com.

Initial listens suggest the song is a return to a more traditional REM sound, and features Michael Stipe singing the chorus: “That sugar cane/That tasted good/That cinnamon/That’s Hollywood”.

The single is the first to be taken from the band’s forthcoming album, ‘Reveal’, released on May 14 via Warners.

The tracklisting for the record runs: ‘The Lifting’

‘I’ve Been High’

‘All The Way To Reno (You’re Gonna Be A Star)’

‘She Just Wants to Be’

‘Disappear’

‘Saturn Return’

‘Beat A Drum’

‘Imitation Of Life’

‘Summer Turns To High’

‘Chorus And The Ring’

‘I’ll Take The Rain’

‘Beach Ball’

As revealed earlier on NME.COM, the band have also confirmed an appearance on the BBC music show ‘Later With Jools Holland’ to coincide with the release.
