Singer forced to pull the second date on her 'Diamonds' tour on advice from doctors
Rihanna was forced to cancel a gig in Boston last night after being diagnosed with laryngitis.
The singer was due to play in Boston on the second night of her US tour, which kicked off in Buffalo, NY on Friday (March 8) and calls at over 25 cities. “Unfortunately, following her sold out concert on Friday Rihanna has contracted laryngitis and per doctor’s instruction is unable to perform this evening,” a statement from promoters Live Nation reads (via Billboard). Rihanna’s Boston date is set to rescheduled, and her date in Baltimore tomorrow (March 12) is so far due to go ahead.
Yesterday, reports suggested that Rihanna is planning on taking a 12-month hiatus from her career. The singer reportedly wants a year-long break from the music industry before releasing another LP.
Last week, Rihanna was named as the most streamed female artist of the last six months. She topped a global poll compiled by Spotify, beating Britney Spears and Taylor Swift to the title, with other artists in the Top 10 including Ke$ha, Carly Rae Jepsen, Florence Welch and Nicki Minaj.
Rihanna is set to play Open’er festival in Poland, which takes place between July 3-6. The festival, which will be headlined by Queens Of The Stone Age, Blur, Kings Of Leon and Arctic Monkeys, takes place in Gdynia. For more information visit Opener.pl/en.
