Ofcom rules that singers' antics were acceptable

Rihanna and Christina Aguilera‘s performances on The X Factor final last December have been deemed acceptable by Ofcom despite thousands of complaints about their apparent raunchiness.

The media regulator received 2,868 complaints about the performances, which you can watch by scrolling down and clicking below. However, chiefs at the body ruled that although Rihanna‘s ‘What’s My Name’ routine “featured some gentle thrusting”, it was “suitably limited”, reports BBC News.

Aguilera‘s performance of ‘Express’ was deemed OK because the song was from the film Burlesque, and so fitted thematically.

Ofcom bosses pointed out that 2,000 of the complaints came in after an article about concerns about the performances had run in a national newspaper.
