Bestival organiser Rob da Bank to create new score to ‘King Kong’

The live soundtracking will take place at Jersey's Branchage film festival in September

The man behind Bestival, Radio 1 DJ Rob da Bank, is set to create a brand new score to the 1933 film version of King Kong.

Rob da Bank will create the new, live soundtrack at the fourth Branchage film festival, which takes place 22-25 September in Jersey.

Though nominally a film festival, there will be a host of other music-related events taking place on the island across the four days.

Teeth Of The Sea will be performing their live visual remix of Neil Marshall’s 2008 film Doomsday at the festival, while harpist Serafina Steer will play a new score alongside the fairytale animations of her brother Sam.

Folk act This Is The Kit will create a ‘soundscape’ to run alongside artist and filmmaker Fritz Stolberg’s Super 8 footage installation, cellist Gerard Le Feuvre will play an accompaniment to Around Cape Horn and Simon Fisher Turner and guests will play a live soundtrack to the 1924 footage of Captain Scott’s final expedition, The Great White Silence.

Bestival takes place September 8-11 on the Isle Of Wight and will feature headline sets from Bjork, The Cure and Pendulum.
