'Something Stupid' stays at top of the charts for Christmas...

ROBBIE WILLIAMS & NICOLE KIDMAN clung to the top spot for another week tonight to be the Christmas Number One with their version of ‘SOMETHING STUPID’.

It was the second week at Number One for the pair and their cover of the Frank & Nancy Sinatra original, though they had fierce competition from pub singer Gordon Haskell and his surprise hit ‘How Wonderful You Are’ which went straight into the singles chart at Number Two.

Robbie also stayed at Number One for another week in the album charts with ‘Swing When You’re Winning’ to score a Yuletide double whammy, as predicted by NME.COM earlier this week. Elsewhere, the album chart remained virtually unchanged from last week.

In the singles chart, the highest new entry was David Gray’s version of Soft Cell’s EIghties classic ‘Say Hello, Wave Goodbye’. Faithless meanwhile managed to go straight into the charts at Number 28 with ‘Tarantula’ with the only other new entries coming from Mariah Carey at Number 32 with ‘Never Too Far’ and The Warp Brothers’ ‘Blast The Speakers’ at Number 40.
