The star's management confirm he's invested in Century - but not to the tune of £1.5 million as reported in today's tabloids...
ROBBIE WILLIAMS’ management have denied rumours that he has spent £1.5 million on opening a club and restaurant to escape curious autograph-hunters.
The story was published in The Sun today (January 24), quoting a friend as saying: “Rob is hoping it will be a home from home where he doesn’t get hassled. He hates going to pubs because he is always getting pestered and finds it hard to sit and have a quiet drink.”
While Robbie’s management have confirmed that he is one of many people invited to invest in the club Century, being opened by London restaurauteur Peirre Condou, they say the story has been blown out of proportion.
A spokesperson told NME.COM this morning: “He is one of the people who has invested a small amount in the venue, but he hasn’t invested #1.5 million.”
The spokesperson added that there was no possibility that Robbie would attend the proposed opening night, scheduled for February 19, as he will be playing a gig at Berlin Velodrome that night. He confirmed: “Unless it is late February or early March, he won’t be at the opening, as he will be on tour in Europe.”
