Rod Stewart on being sued for breaking fan’s nose with a football: ‘It’s a contact sport’

Lawsuit dates back to 2012 gig in Las Vegas

Rod Stewart has responded in a light-hearted manner to a lawsuit filed by a fan accusing the singer of breaking his nose with a football at a 2012 concert.

Stewart reportedly injured Mostafa Kashe at a show in Las Vegas two years ago. The claimant is seeking over £6000 in damages.

Asked about the legal issue by TMZ after being stopped on the street with partner Penny Lancaster, Stewart said, “Well, it’s a contact sport.”

Kashe states that the ball that he says hit him was kicked with “sufficient force so as to potentially injure patrons”. He has filed a suit against both Stewart and his promoter, AEG Live, at Clark County Court in Nevada.

“Stewart has significant experience in the sport of soccer and experience in kicking soccer balls, having previously tried out for a professional soccer team in the UK and regularly playing in amateur soccer leagues since his youth,” the complaint said.

Kashe is seeking damages for lost wages, attorney’s fees and cosmetic damages.
