S Club 7 favourite becomes first among her erstwhile bandmates to land a solo deal, signing with S Club mogul Simon Fuller's 19 Entertainment for a reported £1m...
RACHEL STEVENS has signed a £1m solo record deal with SIMON FULLER’S 19 ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY and POLYDOR RECORDS.
The former S Club 7 singer is the first member of the group to strike out on her own, since the band announced they were splitting up in April.
“It’s a huge move for me… It’s also quite nerve-wracking having been surrounded by my six friends for four years,” she said. “But I love the new single and other material I’m working on and we’re all very supportive of each other.”
Stevens signed a four-album deal with the companies – who also produced S Club 7‘s music. ‘My LA-Ex,’ written by Cathy Dennis, will be released in September.
According to BBC.co.uk, she also added that she was “delighted” to be continuing a business relationship with Simon Fuller.
“Being with the biggest music manager since (Brian) Epstein with The Beatles brings some phenomenal opportunities and I’ve always had a great relationship with him and everyone at 19,” Stevens said.
She added, “Polydor Records have been committed to me from the start of my career so to stay with the people I trust is really important to me.”
