Smith says it's "truly a dream come true"
Sam Smith was the big winner at the MOBO Awards yesterday (October 22), scooping four trophies.
The Londoner’s wins included Best R&B/Soul, Best Male, Best Song (for ‘Stay With Me’) and Best Album (for ‘In The Lonely Hour’). Earlier the same day, Smith picked up Best New Act at the Q Awards.
Smith told The Guardian of his multiple wins: “This is truly a dream come true. It feels amazing. I hardly ever win awards and I never got awards in school for anything so it is really surreal for me to have five in one day. I don’t know where I’ll put them all. I need a cabinet. Well actually I need a house big enough for a cabinet.”
Returning to London for the first time in five years, the MOBO ceremony took place at SSE Wembley Arena, and was co-hosted by former Spice Girl Mel B. Performers included Jessie J, Professor Green and Tori Kelly, Krept and Konan and Candi Staton and rapper Little Simz, who performed ‘You Got The Love’ – click below to watch.
