Sex Pistols snub Hall Of Fame

The band make their intentions known

The Sex Pistols announced yesterday they are boycotting their admission to the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall Of Fame next month (February 24).

Last November, the band were announced as inductees for the March 13 ceremony alongside Blondie, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, Miles Davis and the duo of Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, but Friday morning, the group’s PR company directed journalists to the band’s website www.thefilthandthefury.co.uk for a statement.

“Next to the Sex Pistols, rock and roll and that hall of fame is a piss stain,” read a hand written note.

The statement went on to call the Cleveland, Ohio museum – where the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hame Of Fame is located – “urine in wine.”

The band declared that they will not be attending next month’s inaugural dinner, also taking aim at the price of attending the event, which costs $2500 a head.

They concluded their remarks by hitting out at the “anonymous” judges who voted them in, before adding: “We’re not coming. Your (sic) not paying attention. Outside the shit-stem is a real Sex Pistol.”

A band’s spokesperson said they had no other information on the band at present, but frontman Johnny Rotten and guitarist Steve Jones have scheduled a guest interview appearance in Los Angeles on March 9 on the late night US chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live.
