Pulp, ALAN McGEE, Shaun Ryder, LO-FIDELITY ALLSTARS, MANIC STREET PREACHERS documentary-maker MIKE CONNOLLY and EDWYN COLLINS are among guests appearing at the fourth annual NME Film Festival to be held at London’s National Film Theatre in the South Bank Complex from October 1 to November 5.

NME At The NFT will continue the theme of previous years, featuring an eclectic mixture of innovative and rare rock’n’roll footage. This year’s festival includes preview screenings of forthcoming glam rock movie Velvet Goldmine (stars Jonathan Rhys-Meyers and Euan MacGregor pictured) and American campus thriller Dead Man’s Curve plus the following premieres:

PORTISHEAD: PNYC. Live footage from Portishead’s New York Roseland Ballroom performance last year at which they were accompanied by a 30-piece string section.

LOU REED: ROCK’N’ROLL HEART. The first ever documentary on The Velvet Underground founder member examining Reed’s career from the downtown sleaze of Andy Warhol’s Factory, through the ’70s and into latter-day elder statesman status.

EMBRACE: THE ABBEY ROAD SESSIONS. Embrace filmed performing songs from their debut LP ‘The Good Will Out’ at Abbey Road studios earlier this year, complete with orchestra.

OMNIBUS: THE STORY OF CREATION. Made-for-TV documentary on Alan McGee and the home of Oasis.

YEAR OF THE HORSE. Neil Young And Crazy Horse filmed on their 1996, 1987 and 1976 tours. Interviews with Young and the band and Young’s biographer father Scott, track the troubled road the group have travelled.

METALLICA UNTITLED. Live film of Metallica’s phenomenal stageshows which peaked with their world tour of 1996/’97. Roadies combusted, stages collapsed and were then reshaped in the most meticulously contrived, truly shocking and exhilarating rock assault of the decade.

In the coming weeks, NME.com will have more details of NME At The NFT plus information on how to obtain tickets for the festival along with a number of special offers and giveaways. A selection of films from the festival are also set to tour the UK.
