Shaun Ryder got an enema on TV last night and viewers were quite shocked

"I'm really glad that I've been popped"

Happy Mondays frontman Shaun Ryder has made headlines after receiving a caffeine enema on television last night. See footage from the show below.

The ‘Madchester’ legend was appearing on ITV’s new health show 100 Years Younger in 21 Days – in which celebrities attempt to live better lifestyles in Sardinia.

“Here we go. Ooh, Jesus! Oh my God, it’s like milking a cow,” he said, while having two and a half litres of coffee inserted into him in an attempt to reduce his wrinkles.

Following the treatment and screaming throughout the procedure, Ryder added: “It was quite a revelation. I’m really glad that I’ve been popped.”

Many viewers then took to Twitter to react to what they had just witnessed:

During filming, Ryder also rushed to the rescue and saved the life of former Catchphrase host Roy Walker.

After Walker cut his leg and found himself underwater in Sardinia, Ryder dived into the sea to save the 77-year-old. He had reportedly been hit by a large wave while paddle-boarding.

Speaking of the accident to Digital Spy, Walker’s representative said: “He says he’s eternally grateful to Shaun and has made a lifelong friend – a longer life than he would have had otherwise!”

The Happy Mondays have a full summer of touring ahead – including headlining the new ‘Cool Britannia’ festival at Knebworth Park.
