Silversun Pickups win over massive SXSW crowd

The LA band score coveted spot opening for Metallica

Silversun Pickups performed a raucous set tonight (March 20) for a packed house at Stubb’s Barbeque, one of South by Southwest‘s largest venues.

The Los Angeles four-piece took the stage just before Metallica at the Guitar Hero party, previewing tracks from their forthcoming sophomore album ‘Swoon’.

“This is pretty crazy for us, we’re as happy to be here as you are,” frontman Brian Aubert told the crowd. “I have a feeling shit’s gonna get pretty heavy soon,” he said, referring to the veteran rockers who were up next.

The band won over the massive crowd during their high energy set, which saw Aubert writhing on the floor and Christopher Guanlao pounding the drums like a mad man.

Before making way for the evening’s highly anticipated headliners, Aubert thanked the audience profusely for being such a good crowd.

Silversun Pickups played:

‘Well Thought Out Twinkles’
‘Royal We’
‘Panic Switch’
‘Future For Scenarios’
‘Sort Of’
‘Lazy Eye’
‘Growing Old Is Getting Old’
