Skepta announced as surprise headliner for Future Underground’s closing night

Fans have just 24 hours to buy tickets for the Red Bull Studios gig in London

Skepta has been announced as the surprise headliner for Future Underground’s closing night tomorrow (Sep 10).

The three night event hosted by Red Bull Studios has been taking place at Collins Music Hall in Islington Green. A new headliner and curator has been announced 24 hours before each show, with fans then given the 24 hour window to secure their tickets.

Grime MC Skepta has now been confirmed as headliner and curator for the third and final gig. He follows Hudson Mohawke, who opened the gig series on Thursday (Sep 8) and Charli XCX who played tonight (Sep 9).

Support for Skepta will come from six-piece rap collective Section Boyz plus a warm-up set from DJ Logan Sama. Red Bull Studios Future Underground have also promised ‘an unannounced special guest or two.’

Tickets will be available through a variety of channels over the coming 24-hours, with info distributed through the Red Bull event page and their Twitter handle @RedBullUK. The event will also be live-streamed via the event page tomorrow night.

Slaves recently confirmed that they have been in the studio with Skepta after performing with him at a festival earlier in the year. A collaboration came from that session but may never see the light of day.

“The track is there and we’ve heard it, so it’s exciting but there are no plans for it as yet,” Laurie Vincent of Slaves said. “We both really like what each other are doing, and I think we’re both on a very similar path. He’s leading the charge and I feel like we’re following the example he’s setting.”
