Take a dip...

Skepta has returned with new single ‘Pure Water’, and it’s one of his most contemplative efforts to date.

The laid back track is one of Skepta’s first solo efforts to be released in 2018, and arrived on Spotify last night.

Although Skepta achieved one of his biggest victories by winning the Mercury Prize for ‘Konnichiwa’ in 2016, a perhaps even more prestigious honour followed earlier this year.

In April, he was awarded with a chieftaincy title in Nigeria.

The grime MC, who was born in London to Nigerian parents, attended a ceremony in his family’s hometown of Ijebu Ode, Ogun state on Wednesday (April 4).

He was conferred with the chieftaincy title “Amuludun of Odo-Aje”, later sharing a video from the ceremony to Instagram.
“Thank you to the Baale, Chiefs of Odo Aje and King for presenting me with my Chieftaincy title today,” Skepta wrote in a caption.

“I am honoured and will continue to put time and love into Nigeria, especially the community of Odo Aje.”

He also appeared at February’s NME Awards, joining forces with Stefflon Don to perform their collaboration ‘My Ding A Ling’.
