Investigations continue into frontman's 'terrifying ordeal' in Newport last month
Two woman have been arrested in connection with the random knife attack suffered by Skindred frontman Benji Webbe on January 29.
As the South Wales Argus reports, two women have been arrested following the incident last month in Newport that left the Skindred frontman scarred.
A 40-year-old woman from Newport has been arrested for assault (wounding with intent) and a 29-year-old woman from Newport has been arrested for affray and criminal damage. Both have reportedly been released on bail.
Last Monday (February 1), Webbe revealed further details of injuries sustained by himself and his girlfriend during a random knife attack last Friday (January 29) in his hometown of Newport, Wales.
Webbe posted a picture to Facebook on Saturday morningshowing stitched-up cuts on his face and throat along with other injuries received during the assault upon himself and girlfriend, Julie Christian. He also revealed that he was glassed and his girlfriend “spat at”.
“Thank you all so much for all your concern and well wishes, it makes all the difference and means the world to us. As you can imagine, this has been quite an ordeal,” he wrote, according to Metal Hammer.
“Julie, fortunately, was not physically hurt but the whole thing has taken a toll on us both. For me to be slashed across the face and the throat, for Julie to be dragged around and spat at by a group of women who glassed me… just know that we will rise above this and remain positive and in love” he continued.
“Newport is my home town and I still love it and the community we have. Big up.”
Skindred released their latest album, ‘Volume’, in October. They play Koto, Japan on Valentine’s Day, and Download Festival in July.
