Singer tweeted that she'd finished the album back in April
Sky Ferreira will now release her debut album next year (2014).
The singer revealed on Twitter in April (2013) that she had finished the album and posted a picture of a CDR marked “album final”. Speaking to NME earlier this year, she described the album’s sound as “guitar-driven with electronic elements” and branded forthcoming single ‘You’re Not The One’ “a poppy take on Bowie’s ‘Low’ sound”.
However, a new interview with GQ has confirmed that Ferreira’s album, titled ‘I Will’, is now due to come out in 2014. In the meantime, the singer will release an EP this September.
After a rocky beginning to her music career, Ferreira became a blog favourite last year (2012) thanks to her single ‘Everything Is Embarrassing’, which was produced by Dev Hynes aka Blood Orange. As well as Hynes, Ferreira has worked with producers Jon Brion (Kanye West, Best Coast) and Ariel Rechtshaid (Vampire Weekend, Usher) on her forthcoming album.
On June 25, she played an intimate gig inside the flagship Oxford Circus store of clothes retailer H&M, to an invited crowd of 250 fans, as part of NME Showcases brought to you by H&M Loves Music. Her ten-track set featured songs from her forthcoming album including ‘You’re Not The One’ and fan favourite ‘Sad Dream’ before ending with a crowd-pleasing rendition of ‘Everything Is Embarrassing’.
