Slash: ‘Pete Townshend is my Godlike Genius’ – video

Guitarist speaks out at Shockwaves NME Awards

Slash has declared his admiration for fellow guitarist Pete Townshend of The Who.

The former Guns N’ Roses man was speaking in a video interview (watch it on the right) at the Shockwaves NME Awards on Wednesday (February 24).

“I am a Paul Weller fan but I didn’t even know he was up for the [Godlike] Genius award,” he admitted.

When asked who his idol was he said, “Pete Townshend. Today it’s Pete Townshend. Great songwriter, great personality and great fucking guitar player. I don’t know him that well, we’ve chatted a few times.”

Slash, along with Lily Allen, presented Muse with the Best British Band award at the event.
