Band prepare to release second album 'Take Control' in September
Slaves have premiered their new video exclusively via NME.
The clip for new single ‘Spit It Out’ offers “a snapshot of the band’s daily lives in Tunbridge Wells and New Cross”, which apparently includes pub larks, pregnancy tests and having no cash in the bank. Watch below.
‘Spit It Out’ is lifted from the band’s upcoming second album ‘Take Control’, which is out on September 30 and follows last year’s ‘Are You Satisfied?’. The album features collaborations with former Beastie Boys rapper Mike D and Baxter Dury.
Speaking about the album, guitarist Laurie Vincent told NME in July: “It’s some very old Slaves, some last album Slaves, some new stuff. It’s a bit of everything. It’s more developed than the first album, there’s more of a landscape. It’s heavy, lyrically and how it sounds. Some of it is like how ‘Sugar Coated’ on the first album is really punky, although some is the total opposite.”
Mike D told NME of his contribution to ‘Consume Or Be Consumed’: “I feel right now the world needs an album like this, something that’s more raw and less polished. I was impressed with the band’s strong point of view. They actually speak their minds about social topics.”
The band are also set to head on tour in November. See those dates below (note that the Truro Hall show has now moved to Exeter Great Hall).
