Slint share ‘Breadcrumb Trail’ documentary trailer – watch

The group will also reissue 'Spiderland' album later this year

Slint have shared a trailer for their forthcoming documentary Breadcrumb Trail. You can watch it above now, via Pitchfork.

The film, directed by Lance Bangs, takes in the American post-rock band’s history, focusing on their 1991 album ‘Spiderland’. It runs for 90 mins and features interviews with the group plus contributions from James Murphy, Steve Albini, Ian Mackaye and others.

Speaking about the documentary, Bangs said: “My new feature length documentary Breadcrumb Trail is about Slint and the Louisville music culture they emerged from. It includes footage going back to the early 1990s that I shot when repeatedly driving up from Athens, GA to Louisville to try to chase rumors of what they guys were up to. Over the years I tracked down more stories about them, then began filming interviews with each of the band members and their contemporaries. We also unearthed some unseen/uncirculated footage from their few live performances as well as the writing and arranging of Spiderland.”

Recently, it was announced that ‘Spiderland’ would be reissued on April 15 on CD and heavyweight vinyl. The set will feature the new version of the album, which has been remastered from the original analog master tapes by producer Bob Weston. It will also feature 14 previously unreleased outtakes and demos selected by the band.

The release will also feature a book with previously unseen photographs and a foreword written by Will Oldham. The vinyl version will be limited to 3,138 copies worldwide. ‘Breadcrumb Trail’ will also be included in the reissue.

Slint formed in 1986 and broke up shortly before ‘Spiderland’ was released. In 2005, they reunited to headline the All Tomorrow’s Parties festival at Camber Sands, followed by a subsequent 18-date tour. In 2007, the band performed ‘Spiderland’ in its entirety for a series of European shows. In late 2013, they co-headlined the final All Tomorrow’s Parties weekend at Camber Sands.
