The band dress up for their Manchester show as some well-known locals - including Billy Corgan as David Beckham...
THE SMASHING PUMPKINS’ Halloween show in MANCHESTER saw them pay peculiar tribute to the city by impersonating DAVID and VICTORIA BECKHAM.
Before the band returned to the stage for the encore at the Manchester Apollo on Tuesday (October 31), a voice-over introduced some ‘special guests’ to mark the band’s last ever performance in Manchester.
An eyewitness told NME.COM “They introduced David Beckham, and we all booed and then Billy (Corgan) came on dressed as him so we all cheered. Then James (Iha) came on as a City player, Melissa (Auf Der Maur) came on dressed as Posh Spice and Jimmy Chamberlain came on as George Best with a sherry glass and a wig.”
Elsewhere in the show, Corgan announced – as previously reported by NME.COM – that the band’s final album – ‘Machina II: The Friends & Enemies Of Modern Music’ is available in its entirety as a free download across various Internet sites.
The Smashing Pumpkins play their final UK shows before disbanding tomorrow (Friday November 3) and Saturday (November 4) at London’s Wembley Arena.
