Billy Corgan and wrestlers appear in TV ad for US furniture chain – watch

Smashing Pumpkins frontman plays musical chairs in the ring with his pals from Resistance Pro Wrestling

In the latest WTF headline moment from the Smashing Pumpkins frontman, Billy Corgan has appeared in an advert for a furniture company to co-promote his pro wrestling company.

The video – which you can watch above (via Pitchfork) – shows Corgan in the ring with his pals from Resistance Pro Wrestling. When one of the wrestlers tries to smash someone around the head with one of the chairs, he shouts “That’s a Walter E. Smithe chair!” plugging the US furniture chain.

Corgan set up the company in November 2011. At the time he said he was a fan of wrestling as a child and later rediscovered it as an adult. “Our vision is to try to grow talent” he said. According to Huffington Post, Corgan is in talks to make a reality TV series based on his experiences running the company. “Our number one priority is to get a national TV show, whether it’s the reality show we have in the works or a weekly wrestling show,” he revealed.

Smashing Pumpkins recently announced that they will play three UK tour dates later this year. Corgan and co will play in July in Manchester, Glasgow and a huge show at London’s Wembley Arena.

Having undergone numerous changes in recent years, Smashing Pumpkins’ current line-up sees Corgan as the sole original member appearing alongside guitarist Jeff Schroeder, drummer Mike Byrne and bassist/vocalist Nicole Fiorentino. The band released their latest album ‘Oceania’ in June 2012. The record was the seventh of the band’s career and their first since 2009’s ‘Teargarden By Kaleidescope’.

Smashing Pumpkins will play:

Manchester Academy (July 1)
Glasgow O2 Academy (2)
London Wembley Arena (22)
