PLANS UNCLEAR FOR SNEAKER PIMPS

Sneaker Pimps' split with singer KELLI DAYTON leaves the future of their yet-to-be-finished second album up in the air...

Sneaker Pimps singer KELLI DAYTON has left the band in the middle of the recording of their second album.

As reported on several US music websites yesterday, the departure comes as the band – London based but with huge success in America following their 1996 debut ‘Becoming X’ – are still working on their second album. It is understood the split will leave other members Chris Corner and keyboardist Liam Howe still working on the album.

However, neither the band’s management nor their UK label One Little Indian were prepared to comment at the moment. It is thought there are legal issues to deal with before the future of the band is confirmed. The band’s management are expected to make a statement next week.

It is unclear whether Corner will handle vocal duties on the album, or whether another full-time female vocalist or guest vocalists will be invited in.
