The 'Golden Jay' was launched last week and has been purchased at least 15 times
Snoop Dogg is selling a $99.99 spliff on Snoopify, the photo sharing app he launched earlier this year.
Fans can buy the picture of the Golden Jay for roughly £65 and then add it to their photos. The basic Snoopify app is free, but for $1.99 (£1.28) users can purchase a bundle of 24 extra stickers to place on their camera phone photos.
The Golden Jay was launched last week and has since been purchased at least 15 times, reports The Wall Street Journal via The Guardian. Snoop’s brand manager, Nick Adler commented on the sales: “There’s no poetry behind it, it’s just golden. I was shocked. But hey, this is a new world.”
The rapper’s app is available on iOS and Android and promises fans the opportunity to “take photos of your friends or environment and turn them into Snoop-themed masterpieces”. Users are able to add Snoop-themed stickers to their pictures and share them to Instagram, Facebook and Twitter as well as others who have downloaded the app.
Snoopify is Snoop’s second app of 2013, following Snoop Lion Reincarnated: Track Notes App on iPad, which gives fans an insight into the rapper’s new album and Rastafarian persona. Snoop is also moving into the world of computer games with new title Way of the Dogg due to launch on iOS, Android, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 later this year. A Snoop-themed level also appeared in the Tekken Tag Tournament game when it was released last year.
