Soul giant SOLOMON BURKE is to play a one-off show in LONDON in October.

It will mark the first live appearance in the UK for the sexagenarian legend since a tour in 1975. He will appear at the Barbican Centre on October 6.

The soul pioneer, a contemporary of Otis Redding and massive influence onRolling Stones, made a return to the public eye this year with the critically acclaimed ‘Don’t Give Up On Me’. The album featured tracks written for Burke includingElvis CostelloTom Waits

and [a][/a].

Burke is likely to be accompanied at the Barbican by the Blind Boys Of Alabama, the gospel collective who featured on ‘Don’t Give Up On Me’.
