Son Volt announce new album details

'The Search' comes out in March

Son Volt have announced details of their forthcoming album.

‘The Search’ is a reportedly a departure for the alt-country band, which spun off from Uncle Tupelo after frontman Jay Farrar and Jeff Tweedy parted ways.

According to Farrar’s website, the album, out on March 6, strays from the band’s alt-country roots and employs “an exceptional variety of sounds, melodies, and arrangements”.

“Instrumentally, the electric guitar was the focus of the last record, ‘Okemah’, but for ‘The Search’ we wanted to try something new,” said Farrar. “This time, we utilized different instrumentation to fit each song – from guitar pedal loops to various keyboard sounds to horns.”

Son Volt will soon announce the dates of a US tour beginning in March.
