Sonic Youth to back indie radio with free LA show

They'll close out this year's Free Yr Radio tour

Sonic Youth are set to headline the final show of the Free Yr Radio tour, which supports independent radio stations across the US.

The show will take place at the Urban Outfitters store in Santa Monica, California on July 21, and will benefit local radio station KXLU.

Dntel — the side project of The Postal Service‘s Jimmy Tamborello — will open.

Also slated to perform free shows are Grizzly Bear, who will perform at the Urban Outfitters in Cleveland, Ohio on July 12 to benefit WBWC, and El-P, who is set to perform at New York City’s Avenue of the Americas store on July 14 to benefit WNHU.

In order to attend the shows, an invitation must be printed from the Free Yr Radio website at FreeYrRadio.com.

Klaxons, Dinosaur Jr, The Rapture and Annuals gave performances earlier this year as part of the Free Yr Radio tour.
