Spiritualized go gospel at sold-out Harlem show

Plus opener Simple Kid duets with Kermit The Frog

Spiritualized performed in front of a mostly-reverent crowd at the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem, with renditions of Elvis Presley‘s ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ and gospel classic ‘Oh Happy Day’.

The 90-minute show on Friday (November 16) was the sole New York stop on the band’s ‘Acoustic Mainline’ tour, and saw a silver-shoed Jason Pierce perform a string of hits from Spiritualized‘s back catalogue including ‘Stop Your Crying’, ‘All Of My Tears’ and ‘Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space’.

Opener Simple Kid, aka Kieran McFeely, endeared himself to the growing crowd with tracks including ‘Truck On’, ‘Serotonin’ and a duet with Kermit The Frog, which saw McFeely perform ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green’ with the celebrity frog appearing on a screen backdrop.

The tour wraps up tonight at the Museum Of Fine Art in
