Chilean artist claims St Vincent destroyed her paintings with ‘knives and violence’

Constanza Ragal Chaigneau says her artwork was damaged backstage at Lollapalooza

St Vincent has been accused of destroying paintings left backstage at Lollapalooza festival in Chile.

The artist, real name Annie Clark, performed at the Chilean leg of the festival on March 15. Local artist Constanza Ragal Chaigneau was commissioned to decorate the backstage area and MTV reports that paintings left in the dressing room were left damaged.

Chaigneau reportedly demanded $4,500 from Clark and claimed on Instagram that the paintings were destroyed with “knives and violence”. NME has contacted a spokesperson for St Vincent but has received no reply at the time of writing.

St Vincent is currently on tour in south America and recently arrived in Paraguay.

St Vincent released her fourth album, ‘St Vincent’, last year. It won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. St Vincent will headline Green Man Festival 2015 alongside Hot Chip.

Hot Chip will headline the Friday night of the festival, which takes place at Glanusk Park in the Brecon Beacons from August 20-23. St Vincent, meanwhile, will close the festival on the Sunday.

‘St Vincent’ was was named NME’s 2014 Album Of The Year 2014 and was placed seventh in NME’s Albums Of The Decade So Far.
