1986 hit now has backing vocals from the Corps of Army Music

Status Quo are to release a new version of their 1986 hit ‘In The Army Now’ to raise money for the Help For Heroes and British Forces Foundation charities.

The song, which reached Number Two in the UK singles chart when it was originally released, has been re-recorded and now features new lyrics and backing vocals from the Corps of Army Music, reports BBC News.

The new version will be released on September 26. “It seemed like the right time to do this. This release is intended to show our support for the Allied Forces around the world but, in particular, of course, the British Armed Forces,” said frontman Francis Rossi.

Help For Heroes is set to hold a charity gig at London’s Twickenham Stadium on September 12, featuring the likes of Plan B and Robbie Williams.
