STEREOPHONICS, RICHARD ASHCROFT, PULP, THE CHARLATANS and BADLY DRAWN BOY have contributed songs for a tribute album to the late SCOTT PIERING.
Piering, a legendary TV and radio plugger, helped many bands when they first started out. Following his death from cancer two years ago, many of those bands played a charity tribute concert for Scott at London’s Scala in April.
Performances from that evening will now feature on the tribute album. ‘4Scott’, released on August 26. It includes Pulp’s ‘Babies’,Stereophonics’ ‘Just Looking’ and Richard Ashcroft performing ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’.
The album also features four big bonus tracks by The Charlatans, [/a], Gomez and [a]
, whose back catalogue is currently unavailable. The [a][/a] track is a live version of ‘Justified & Ancient’ featuring Scott Piering.
At least £2.30 from each 4Scott CD purchase will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care, the same charity that benefited from the Scala concert.
Channel 4 will be screening an hour-long film of the 4Scott concert on Saturday, August 24. Check press for times.
