Stereophonics part with drummer

Front man Kelly Jones announces Javier Weyler has left the Welsh group

Stereophonics have announced that drummer Javier Weyler has left the band.

Weyler was the Welsh group’s second drummer after he replaced original sticksman Stuart Cable in 2005. His departure was announced on the band’s Twitter and Facebook pages last night (July 20).

The statement from front man Kelly Jones and bassist Richard Jones read: “We wanted to let you know Javier and the band will no longer be working together. The band enjoyed playing with Javier over the last 8 years and his company was enjoyed by everyone in the Stereophonics family.

They will then play gigs at Derby’s Assembly Rooms (July 23), Grimsby’s Auditorium (24) and Cambridge Corn Exchange (25) before playing the BT London Live Olympics opening ceremony gig in Hyde Park next Friday (July 27). The band will perform alongside Duran Duran, Paolo Nutini and headliners Snow Patrol.

Llandudno Venue Cymru (July 22)
Derby Assembly Rooms (23)
Grimsby Auditorium (24)
