Fleetwood Mac singer says the 'Purple Rain' man wanted more than just collaborate on the iconic song
Stevie Nicks has revealed that Prince wanted to have a romance with her.
The Fleetwood Mac singer told Mojo magazine that she was asked by Prince to help work on his soon-to-become-iconic track ‘Purple Rain’. However, she feels he asked her to contribute as he wanted more than just her voice.
“I’ve still got it [the demo cassette] – with the whole instrumental track and a little bit of Prince singing, ‘Can’t get over that feeling’, or something,” she said. “I told him, ‘Prince, I’ve listened to this a hundred times but I wouldn’t know where to start. It’s a movie, it’s epic.”
She added: “The olive branch of him giving me that cassette was huge, but I think he would have liked a romance with me, too.”
Nicks admitted that she was “very flattered” by his advances and revealed that he once picked her up after a Fleetwood Mac concert and drove her back to his home. “We get into his purple Camaro and bomb out onto the freeway at 100mph. I’m terrified, but kind of excited, too,” she said.
However, Nicks insists that nothing happened between them. She said: “I get on the plane and the rest of the band are like [drum fingers, rolls eyes]. I’m like, ‘What? Nothing happened.'”
