Rockers pay homage to Europe too

Stone Sour paid tribute to Prince at Download Festival today (June 10).

The band, who are fronted by Corey Taylor from Slipknot, dropped in the signature line from Prince‘s ‘Sexy MF’ during their track ‘Sillyworld’.

Earlier the group had began their love-in arriving on stage to opening chords of the Europe‘s track ‘The Final Countdown’ before launching into a selection of tracks from recent album ‘Come What(ever) May’.

Taylor said: “Let’s see these fucking hands in the air. Jesus Christ – look at all you mother fuckers!” before playing ‘Made Of Scars’.

Before ‘Through Glass’ Taylor asked fans to join in with a mass sing a long.

“Can you guys say ‘ahaaa’? I want you to hold it as long as you can,” he said as the group began ‘Inhale’.

Introducing ‘Bother’ Taylor then declared: “A year ago I didn’t play this song because you didn’t know it. Now I think you do.”

The track promoted a mass sing along with Taylor saying: “I think that was fucking awesome.”
