The grunge veterans finally call it a day...
The STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have officially split up.
The grunge band enjoyed success in the 1990s with their debut album ’Core’, 1996’s ’Purple’, and the single ’Plush’. However, former frontman Scott Weiland’s heroin addiction has had more press than the band’s albums in recent years.
Lead guitarist Dean DeLeo explained split to KIIS Radio. “Along with the beauty of the Stone Temple Pilots there was a dark trail that went right along with it,” he said. “There’s not much I can look back on and say I really enjoyed, without wondering if the floor was going to drop from under us.”
As recently reported on NME.COM, Weiland has been ordered into drug rehabilitation, following his probation violation.
Weiland, whose next probation status report in January 6, was allowed a supervised four-hour block over a ten-day period beginning on November 7 to complete his vocal parts on his new album with Velvet Revolver, the band he formed with former members of [a][/a].
