Stormzy and Idris Elba dress up as Father Christmas as they deliver presents to children at London hospital

They wanted to "bring a smile to the children who are unwell"

Stormzy and Idris Elba donned Father Christmas outfits this week, visiting children at a London hospital.

The pair – who have become close friends recently – delivered presents to young patients at East London’s Newham University Hospital.

Actor and Newham native Elba told Evening Standard that he wanted to “bring a smile to the children who are unwell”.

He continued: “I always wanted to give back in this way, to Children’s Hospitals. With a 15-year-old daughter and three-year-old son myself, I can only imagine the anguish and maybe even fear these children and their parents are experiencing.”

“This visit was just a moment for me to hopefully bring a smile to the children who are unwell, in hospital and away from the comfort of their homes during the Christmas period,” Elba added.

“Thank you so much to our amazing secret Santas @idriselba and Stormzy for visiting Rainbow ward today. You made our day!” the hospital tweeted after the visit.

Meanwhile, Elba and Stormzy hung out last weekend, with both attending a Christmas party at Kadie’s Cocktail Bar & Club in London.

The pair were photographed with their respective partners, Maya Jama and Sabrina Dhowre. You can see that photo here.

The same weekend, Stormzy won BBC Music’s Artist Of The Year award. Upon winning the award, the grime MC described himself “actually blessed” to have earned the title.
