ALAN VEGA of 70s art-punk duo Suicide has just opened a new exhibition of neon, light and junk sculptures in NEW YORK.
The exhibition, called ‘Collision Drive’, is Vega’s first for 20 years. It runs until March 1 at the Jeffrey Deitch Gallery in SoHo. Modjo, Bjork, Sonic Youth, ARE Weapons and members of Add N To (X), were amongst the guests at last weekend’s (January 12) opening. The first piece sold before the show had even opened to a New York collector for a reported $50,000.
Suicide will play a one-off show to mark the exhibition in the gallery on February 22. They also play two special ‘Valentine’ gigs at the Cartier Foundation arts space in Paris on February 14 and 15.
Meanwhile, Vega and his Suicide partner Martin Rev are planning to release their as yet untitled new album – their first for eight years, later this year through Blast First/Mute.
