Super Furry Animals perform rarities in Brooklyn

Welsh band dig deep into back catalogue for North American tour

Super Furry Animals performed several rare live tracks at their sold-out show in Brooklyn at the weekend (January 25).

The band made their debut appearance at the Music Hall Of Williamsburg on Friday, playing 26 songs for the enraptured crowd.

Opening with ‘The Gateway Song’ from brand new album ‘Hey Venus!’ they made their way through tracks from their lengthy back catalogue including ‘Keep The Cosmic Trigger Happy’, which received its live US debut.

‘If You Don’t Want Me To Destroy You’ from their 1996 debut album ‘Fuzzy Logic’ was the winner of the band’s online voting system, in which fans can request songs for each night’s set list on the band’s current tour of the US and Canada. The system currently only makes available to the band the song with the most votes.

They played many tracks including ‘Run-Away’ and ‘Battersea Odyssey’ from ‘Hey Venus!’ , and also performed ‘Guerrilla’ favourite ‘Northern Lites’ in the style of Teenage Fanclub.

The tour continues tonight (January 29) in Carrboro, NC.
