Supergrass’ Danny Goffey unveils ‘Buzzkiller’ from new album ‘Schtick!’ and announces his own ‘Glastonbury placeholder’ festival

Get ready for 'Goffstonbury'

Former Supergrass drummer and songwriter Danny Goffey is back with details of his new solo album ‘Schtick’. Check out the video for first single ‘Buzzkiller’ on NME first below.

The follow-up to 2015’s ‘Vangoffey’, ‘Schtick’ was co-produced by Simon Byrt and features cameos from Suede’s Brett Anderson, Rialto’s Louis Eliot and Insecure Men’s Marley Mackey.

Described as “a collage of modern hysteria, exploring religion, addictive tendencies, gang violence, ‘LAD’ culture and neuroticism”, Goffey says that his new album is a fearless analysis of modern times.

“My last album was more about my domestic life,” said Goffey. “On this album, I got to grips with bigger topics like unprovoked violence and how religion is so strange… I do think it stands out in today’s music.”

The tracklist for ‘Schtick!’ is:

Let It Happen
Ancient Text
Sick Holiday
Buzzkiller
I Can’t Leave It Alone
Psychomental
Cosmic Bob
3 Day Bender
Television
I Am Done (Trying To Be Young)
Oh Yes, Hey Hey!

‘Schtick!’ is due for June 22, a day of his own festival ‘Goffstonbury’.

Described as a ‘placeholder’ for Glastonbury and taking place what would have been the same weekend were it not for the fallow year, Goffstonbury will take place at his home in Somerset and promises what Goffey says will be “madness galore… including music, emotional
dance, hedonistic treats and a Les Dawson impersonator”

He added: “It’s gonna be bonkers.”

Entry to the festival will be granted via lottery to 100 fans who pre-order the album.

Meanwhile, Goffey’s former Supergrass bandmate Gaz Coombes recently announced details of his new ‘Frank Ocean and hip-hop’ inspired album, ‘World’s Strongest Man‘ – due for release on May 4.
