The band had fuelled speculation that they could be putting out new material at a recent gig

System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian has reiterated that the band are not working on a new album.

During an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit to promote his two new solo albums ‘Orca’ and ‘Lazz-lz-Christ’, Tankian said that a follow-up to 2005’s ‘Mezmerize/Hypnotize’ wasn’t on the cards.

As%20Spin reports, the band had ignited rumours that they were back in the studio earlier this week (July 29) during a one-off gig at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl. “Next time we come back here, we’ll have a new fucking album,” drummer John Dolmayan shouted.

Back in May, the band’s bass player Shavo Odadjian said the band want to record a new album without singer Serj Tankian. In the since deleted Facebook post, Odadjian suggested that recruiting a new singer for the band in order to record a new album might be an option if it was something fans would be open to. The band later posted an official statement on their website distancing themselves from Odadjian’s comments.
